Dreams and Fears
So, the most recent and on-going project I have been working on is for an assessed piece of university work. I combined two of the briefs we were given in order to create a series of photographs documenting aspects of my life, using post-production to both represent and disguise my own dreams and fears. I wanted to edit these photographs in order to hide away their true meanings - as you would do with hiding fears and insecurities. The element of disguise within these photographs was inspired, as most of my work is, by surrealist artists such as Man Ray and Salvador Dali. However, despite drawing inspiration from surrealism - the paintings of pre-Raphaelites such as John Millais had an impact on the colour schemes and composition of the series.
I'll keep you updated on how i'm getting on with it all, i've completed the shoots but the edits are taking me some time. I've made a couple of quick teaser videos to accompany this series - as i really enjoyed working on this shoot and decided to film parts of it as well. Have a lovely day!

Daniyel Lowdon
I've just come across this video and thought i would share. I also just wrote a massive blog about how much I love it but its been deleted and sent into cyber space somewhere so here i go again. This guy, Daniyel Lowden, is 19 and this video, in my opinion, is so so so beautiful. It just shows you don't have to be a technical wizard or a post-production nerd in order to create something so aesthetically accurate. It seems to me that he has really laid his heart out within this video. It is such a heartfelt and wonderful short film - capturing, with such sensitivity, different emotions within different moments. It felt ridiculous watching it and subtly thinking that I have felt exactly like that at some point or another in my life...but I guess some things just affect you more than you think that they will. Check out this video, it's really worth watching all the way through - I just think it is one of the most perfect things I have seen in a while...I really hope he posts some more videos because he is clearly has such a talent for reflecting the private moments within peoples lives.
I think it is something so special when you find something which pushes you to want to create and to be inspired.
I actually have quite a lot to blog about today but it will have to wait until after i've finished some work for a deadline tomorrow.

First post is the deepest
Okay after having blog after blog, deleting them and making them again i've decided to come up with a solution for it all. I'm supposed to have a blog for my Uni work and then i guess i had my personal one too but it was all a bit much and no one wants to have to post on two different things each week....so the simple solutions seems to be just to combine them from now on. Although I guess this will mean a somewhat censored version of my personal blog, it just seems like it would make sense to mix work with pleasure in the hope of offering some background development of my photography and film stuff. It's a new year and so i'm not going to post a load of work that i did last year or at school or when i was using crayons when i was 4 or whatever - i'm just going to have a fresh start and start again. So basically kids, this is where i'll be posting things that i come across in my life that i find inspiring, my photography/films/scribbles/paintings and whatever and probably the odd video of my music every now and then. Hope I can manage to keep it all up etc etc....it's more a way of helping myself develop ideas without writing them on bits of paper and losing them in my handbag or whatever. Peace x
